Zur wissenschaftlichen Praxis der Feststellung und Zuschreibung von Qualität
Ausgehend von einem Positionspapier der DFG zur aktuellen Konstitution des wissenschaftlichen Publikationswesens vertieft der Beitrag den Teilaspekt der Feststellung von Qualität wissenschaftlcher Erkenntnisse und der Zuschreibung von Qualität an kommunikative Handlungen im System der Wissenschaftskommunikation. Er erläutert verschiedene Formen des Peer Reviews sowie Instrumente, die als Surrogate für die Ausweisung von Qualität handlungsleitend bei Entscheidungen für oder gegen die Wahl von Publikationsorten und -formen sind, sowohl aus Sicht von Wissenschaftlern als Autoren als auch als Rezipienten. Er trägt dazu bei, dass das wissenschaftliche Publikationswesen, seine Aufgaben und Spielarten sowie die Gefahr seiner potenziellen Verformung besser verstanden werden.
Based on a DFG position paper on the current constitution of the scientific publication system, the article delves deeper into the aspect of determining the quality of scientific knowledge and the attribution of quality to communicative actions in the system of scientific communication. It explains various forms of peer review as well as instruments which, as surrogates for the designation of quality, guide decisions for or against the choice of publication venues and forms, both from the perspective of scientists as authors and as recipients. It contributes to a better understanding of the scientific publishing system, its tasks and varieties, as well as the danger of its potential deformation.
